It's Cinco de Mayo! Our trivia question for today was: "Which day in Mexican history does el cinco de mayo celebrate?" The answer: The Battle of Puebla! In case you didn't know, Mexico's "Independence Day" is on September 16, 1810. The Battle of Puebla actually was an important victory for Mexico against French forces in the town of Puebla in the state of Puebla. The French were trying to take over Mexico because Mexico had decided to no longer pay France back some loaned money. In Mexico, this day is not really celebrated much and people don't really care about it.
So, now you know.
Anyway! Today we DID NOT take our quiz as previously planned.
The WWI quiz will be tomorrow, instead. Today we answered the following
Essential Questions:
- What was the Treaty of Versailles and what did it mean for Germany?
- How did WWI influence Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, & Pablo Picasso?
To do this, we first listened to Mr. K tell some stories about the Treaty of Versailles and the 3 guys and looked at a PowerPoint slide of them (shown below).
After this, we worked on an assignment in which we made a
bubble chart about the
Treaty of Versailles and a
graph chart about the 3 men. These charts can be found below - they are due tomorrow at the end of the day. You can print them here if you'd like!
