WEDNESDAY - APRIL 21, 2010

     Hey guys!  Our Essential Question is:  What were the causes of WWI?  Today, we started by defining together and discussing the following terms:

 Today's Vocabulary!

     - Ethnic Group - People who share culture, language, color/race, religion.
     - Ally - (pronounced "A-lai") A country or nation that is your friend (especially in war).
     - Alliance - A group of countries/nations that protect each other.
     - Entangle - To "get all mixed up."  Entangling alliances are when allies get switched around and/or help the enemy, etc.

     - Nation vs. Country vs. Nation-State

           * Country - a place with borders and a government (also called "a state").
           * Nation - a people with a shared past/present/future (typically an ethnic group).
           * Nation-State - a country in which aALL the people belong to the same nation.


   Then, we reviewed & discussed the major "eras" leading up to WWI.  These are shown below:

TUESDAY - APRIL 20, 2010

     Hey people!  Today, we watched and discussed a short video on "No Schools," in which parents basically keep their kids at home, teach them nothing (not even homeschool), have no rules, and no punishment.  We had some pretty interesting discussions!

     After this, we took a short quiz based on the Imperialism - Document Analysis we had worked on for the last few days (That sheet can be found if you scroll down a bit to Monday/Friday/Thursday).  The quiz questions can be found right here:
