FRIDAY - February 11, 2011

Well hello!!  So, today we finished watching Captain Blood and got to see how he and his men captured a ship with Captain Blood's old girlfriend (Arabella Bishop) and her uncle as they returned to Jamaica from England.  Arabella's uncle told Captain Blood that he was sent by the King of England to ask Captain Blood to return to England and join the Navy as a real captain because he was such a great fighter.  Captain Blood laughed and said that he would NEVER work for King James after he made him a slave.  Arabella's uncle laughed and said, "King James?!  This request is from King William!  England has had a revolution and King James went into hiding in France!  Now England and France are at war...!"

Shocked, Captain Blood and his men accept the request.  But first, they sail for Jamaica, where they heard there were some French ships bombarding the city of Port Royal (which was an English colony).  Captain Blood and his men sailed into the harbor using a fake French flag and then surprised the French ships, taking them over and sinking them.... saving the British port of Port Royal, Jamaica and helping the new King William and Queen Mary.  And so, there's Captain Blood's version of what happened during England's "Glorious Revolution."

After this, we did a P.I.R.C. Chart for the GLORIOUS REVOLUTION in England.  See the picture below to see what we came up with:

England's
"GLORIOUS REVOLUTION"

Finally, we took a short quiz on Absolutism, Scientific Revolution, & Enlightenment.
