WEDNESDAY - MARCH 3, 2010

Hey you guys!  Today I passed out everyone's essays from yesterday and we did two things:

          1)  Went over how to write a "proper" introduction paragraph
          2)  Shared our writing with each other to get "constructive criticism" from our peers.

Use this format for writing a "proper" introduction paragraph:

     - Sentence #1:  TOPIC SENTENCE  (Example for French Revolution essay - Why do people revolt?)

     - Sentence #2:  SUPPORT YOUR TOPIC SENTENCE  (Example for French Revolution essay - Nations around the world have revolted as a way to gain their freedom.)

     - Sentence #3:  LEAD-IN TO YOUR MAIN TOPIC  (In this case, the French Revolution, specifically - An example of a successful revolution is the French Revolution... blah blah blah...)

     - Sentence #4:  LEAD-IN TO YOUR MAIN TOPIC  (In this case, the French Revolution, specifically - Say something else about the French Revolution here...)

     - Sentence #5:  THESIS STATEMENT  (Something like this - Tired of their suffering, the people of France chose to revolt against their government.  After a successful, but bloody, revolution, France experienced many changes to its government and society.)
