FRIDAY - MARCH 5, 2010

     HAPPY WEEKEND!  Today we worked on those essays again.  We split into 2 groups - First group was people who needed to do their final drafts, and Second group was people who learned some tricks about taking Gateway and worked on their introductions/etc.  Here are some Gateway and Essay Writing tips and tricks:

What to do when you take Gateway:

     1)  First, read the question and find what the main topic is.
     2)  Second, turn the page and look at the documents.
     3)  Third, write in your notes just 1 sentence describing each document.
     4)  Fourth, go back to the 1st page and read the "Historical Background."
     5)  Fifth, read the question again and brainstorm.
     6)  Finally, start the thesis statement + intro, then write the rest of your essay!


How to write a good essay:

   *** Remember - before you improve your writing enough and become a creative writer who thinks "outside the box," you must first think "inside the box."  Use the format attached below to help focus your writing and polish your skills:
